Stuart Anstee

Stuart Anstee is internationally recognised as a leader in private sector conservation. Beginning his career as a zoologist Stuart then began focusing on biodiversity and land management, and went on to work for almost 20 years in the extractives industry. During this time, Stuart led the development and implementation of Rio Tinto’s Net Positive Impact on Biodiversity policy – a pioneering achievement in the early 2000s.

He has extensive experience working at both a corporate policy level, as well as developing methodologies and tools for on the ground application.

Stuart is well regarded globally for his strong knowledge of business processes and drivers, coupled with his ecological and conservation expertise.

His sophisticated understanding of the benefits of cross-sector collaboration has been developed over many years experience working in multi-party forums and initiatives.

Kate Scott

Kate Scott is the founder and co-director of Streamer Strategy, a niche strategic practice specialising in 21st century communication and engagement methods.  She works with businesses and organisations to develop strategies that bridge the gap between an organisation’s goals and their successful implementation. Kate builds strategies with high quality communication tools as the best method to engage and attract interest, influence decision-making and encourage behavioural change.

Kate has provided expertise on projects and complex cross-sectoral initiatives in mining and resources, Indigenous affairs, innovation and entrepreneurship, biodiversity and the environment, health, education and urban planning and community development and has an excellent understanding of the opportunities to engage across the sectors.

In 2016, Kate completed management and leadership subjects at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US.  Kate has personally won numerous national and international awards for her work as a designer. She has also won numerous awards with her clients in strategy development and communication design.


Cameron Jones


Cameron is a business-oriented environmental scientist with over 15 years experience in areas including land use stewardship and biodiversity, management systems, non-financial reporting and assurance, closure planning, risk analysis, and auditing. He is degree qualified in both environmental management and earth science and worked with Rio Tinto for over seven years as a senior environmental advisor focusing on the development of management frameworks for land use stewardship, rehabilitation strategy and biodiversity action planning, as well as providing corporate and international business units with support on management systems, closure planning and non-financial reporting.  Prior to Rio Tinto, he was employed with URS Corporation as a sustainability consultant working across the resources, finance, manufacturing, telecommunications and services sectors in HSE auditing, non-financial assurance, and management systems.


UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre

The United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) works with scientists and policy makers worldwide to place biodiversity at the heart of environment and development decision-making to enable enlightened choices for people and the planet. They are recognised leaders in their field and have unrivalled understanding of the institutional landscape surrounding biodiversity policy and ecosystem management.

UNEP-WCMC has experience of working with decision makers at national, regional and local scales in the following sectors: environment, climate change, agriculture, oil, gas, mining, finance, fisheries, aquaculture, and tourism. This has involved working with various levels of government, the UN system, private sectors, research institutions, non-governmental organisations, and local communities.


Hardner & Gullison

Hardner & Gullison Associates (HGA) has assisted some of the world’s largest extractive-sector companies in the development of biodiversity management practices and compliance with the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Performance Standard 6 (PS6).  In addition, HGA has provided assistance to lenders in ensuring compliance with environmental safeguards.

Jared has 23 years of experience in the fields of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation. The focus of his current work is corporate environmental management and measuring the effectiveness of conservation programs. Jared earned a B.A. from Princeton University and an M.F.S. from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. 

Ted has 27 years of experience working on a wide range of natural resource management and conservation issues. A particular emphasis in his career has been incorporating scientific rigor into the evaluation and design of a broad spectrum of approaches to biodiversity conservation. Ted earned a B.S. from the University of British Columbia and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.

His sophisticated understanding of the benefits of cross-sector collaboration has been developed over many years experience working in multi-party forums and initiatives.

We have a long history of collaboratively helping clients develop policies and guidance for Net Positive Impact and other solutions to biodiversity challenges.

The Biodiversity Consultancy (TBC )is a specialist consultancy providing technical and policy expertise in biodiversity and ecosystem services (BES).  They work across sectors, developing practical approaches to understanding and managing BES risk. They bring scientific knowledge and experience to our associates team and help our clients meet emerging challenges and establish leading environmental performance.
